Sword of State : A hand grasps the emblem of regal power. An interpretation of the Sword in the Scottish Crown Jewels.

Inspired by a sense of fun and awe at the prospect of re-creating the historic sword in metal, space, and light.

A gift from a Pope to a King in 1507. A symbol of regal power at the coronation of 16th century Kings and Queens at Stirling and Scone. Broken in two and hidden from a punitive Roundhead army, under a pulpit in the Kirk of Kineff. Then locked in Edinburgh castle, forgotten for over 100 years. A symbol of national pride re-discovered in 1818.

Sculpted in aluminium strips fastened with stainless steel.
